Federicos Cafe

Hello everyone, it’s time for our monthly dining review.

This time around we have one of our FF fans to thank for their recommendation. We were at an engagement to attend Saturday in Fremont and afterwards decided to see what was cooking at Federicos Café located in the Fremont Plaza.

Soon as we walked in we were struck by the Tuscany colored walls and artsy décor. . the host greeted us (and all the other customers) like we were old friends. . we found out later that our host was one of the owners of Federico’s.

We had a 7:00 reservation and were seated promptly. As we followed our host to the main dining room, there was a talented gentleman blowing some sweet tunes on his sax. We later found out it was his first night at the Restaurant – if you’re planning a party and need some good background or dance music, check out this one-man-band with a great voice at www.tonybolivar.com.

We were initially served water - in a chilled glass – (this one scores big points for me personally) and warm homemade bread – the bread dip – consisting of tomato, olive oil, garlic and a touch of salt and pepper – was “yummy”.

The menu consisted of a very unique selection. . each custom “made to order”. . while we waited.. we dined on a Crab cake appetizer. This was two pilled high crab cakes accompanied with a small salad of greens and tomatoes. The crab was great - not too fishy - with plenty of meat.

The salad had a different edge which made it very good to the pallet – the dressing was homemade – the salad presentation included some small cranberries along with fresh cut strawberries – delicious!

For our entrée’s, we had the Pappardelle di Cranchio, a tasteful plate filled with homemade pasta, scallops, shallots along with stone crab meat, served with an incredible Vodka crème sauce, along with the Cartoccio – this was tasteful seafood mixed with linguine wrapped in parchment paper that was filled with salmon, butterflied shrimp, clams, scallops, stone crab and sautéed to perfection.

Of course with dinner we can’t over look the fine wine selection (and generous pours) including many by-the-glass choices in Cabarnet, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel.

We were completely full; however we just had to top the evening off with a savory bite of Tiramisu.

At the end of our very enjoyable leisurely dinner, the chef personally thanked us for visiting, (the chef who also was one of the owners).

We highly recommend Frederico’s on Mowry Ave in Fremont – especially if you’re looking for cozy ambiance – excellent Italian with unique flair cuisine and very attentive service excellent entertainment while you wait and the menu is filled with fresh items that are priced right.

For the FF team it was very enjoyable evening at Federico’s. I want to congratulate the city of Fremont on having such a gem restaurant in your city. I’m sure we’ll be returning soon. A special thanks to Caitlin who recommended Federico’s on the FF site!

Oh. . and guys, the men’s restroom was made for a man; makes me wonder about the ladies room.

FF Team!
