La Fondue
We thought we’d treat ourselves in October and put our appetite to the test as the FF team strolled into the chic and classy La Fondue Restaurant located in downtown Saratoga. As we entered into the new location, the entry area gleams with the latest in modern décor. Fellows, if you’re planning a romantic date in the near future, this place will score you oodles of points.
Upon arriving we were greeted by the host who immediately escorted us to our seat. On our brief journey to our table, our eyes were glazing over the simmering cheeses and decedent chocolates being served up.
Our water glass with lemon (this scores big points with me) was served up immediately. Soon after our waitress Laura came by to say hello and take our drink orders. We immediately asked her for a round of champagne cocktails as we investigated the menu.
We had a tough decision, how much can we intake? Is it going to be extra meat? Another cheese? The vote (my vote) was to stick with the favorite cheese of all time “Stinking Rose” (Swiss cheese, garlic and wine) along with their signature chef salad. Laura was great in helping us along with being forth coming in her recommendations.
So let’s talk fondue: Personally I can pass on the veggies and just continually dip bread all night. One thing I’ve learned from pass visits, don’t finish the salad it kills my hunger because it’s so big and you will won’t to finish it. . take it home for the next day – it will be great for dinner.
So next, how adventurous is the FF team? Is it grilled filet, chicken and fish, or is it Buffalo, Kangaroo, Llama Crocodile, Ostrich Alligator and Venison? We felt adventurous, we chose to grill our own and we went for the exotic Alligator to Wild Boar feast.
For some on the FF team it was a new experience and a lot safer – that is you taking about of crocodile as opposed to the opposite. For those on the team that never had such exotic choices before were extremely impressed. Everyone thought the meat selection was tasty even without the sauces. However, when dipped, as explained by Laura the meat comes a live. From what I can remember, some of the sauces where BBQ, Garlic, Onion, teriyaki along with some others. Laura was very nice to bring a little extra of our favorite sauces.
The next headline reads “Do you dare! Ah, melted dark chocolate with a shot of your favorite if you choose heated and served with some tasty treats. Some of the winners hands down were the dipped marshmallows, cookie dough and cream puffs, personally I kind of like the pound cake (yeah, call me boring).
It’s been a few weeks since our visit to La Fondue, however writing this review has me drooling for a cheese and dessert run there real soon. I think I gained a few pounds that night; but if you’re going to gain, why not do it right!
To sum it up, if you’re planning a romantic night on the town, or looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate something special, pick up the phone, dial 408.867.3332 and make your reservation soon!
FF Team!
