Crab Landing

Happy New Year Everyone!

Hope you all had a great holiday season. I know it’s been awhile since my last review – where has the time gone? Now lets get down to the work at hand – where did we go and what did we eat!

For our first review of 2010 we took a January trip north to one of our favorite locations in the Bay Area, Half Moon Bay. During the day some of the FF team hopped a ride on some nice waves which also supplied a nice appetite. With that in mind, our choice for dinner Saturday night was the Crab Landing located at 260 Capistrano Road.

This great restaurant is adjacent to a small shopping area where you can find that special by-the-sea gift for someone. As you walk into the Crab Landing you will find a spacious lobby just in case you need to wait before you’re seated. To your left is an appetizing Sushi bar, to the right a nice cozy bar area that had a three-piece band offering some nice ambiance. In the middle and if you do choose to dine upstairs you will stroll up a beautiful spiral staircase (don’t bother counting them, take my word, it’s a lot of stairs) where there’s plenty of seating. Tucked away upstairs is a small bar area. . really, this place didn’t miss a beat when they designed it!

We had a small group so they easily accommodated us at 7:00 that evening. It was our first visit to the Crab Landing; there impressive menu immediately captured our attention. They have everything from a starting line-up of Crab specialties like Crab Cakes and Chili Crab (did I really write that?) along with many seafood choices like Sole, Halibut and Ahi Tuna to mention a few. In the meat department you have your choice from Blackened Rib Eye Steak to French Dip and of coarse a full raw bar.

For starters I ordered something I’ve never had before Cheesy Crab Bread plus I just had to have there Chili Crab. I felt like my dog, I had this urge to pick up my plate and lick it all up! We also dived into the Oysters on a Half Shell. I know it’s been a month or so since we’ve done a review but I can’t remember the last time I saw so much food on our table, I guess I better never skip a month for a review!

Along with there menu they had a few specials; however I committed myself to the Sesame Halibut cooked in sizzling sesame oil that included some nice green veggies. I know I over indulged that night but have you read a review where I haven’t. Between the team I think we tapped into some great entrée’s with everything cooked the way we liked it. Of course your meal will come with complimentary warm bread with oil & vinegar, pesto sauce, and butter.

I know I’ve been going on and on about the good food, but from the moment we stepped into the restaurant and was greeted to our very patient waiter our service busted the 1-10 scale.

This time we did something we’ve never done before, first time out dining that nobody ordered dessert. We saw a lot of Crème Brule being served, but we were stuffed. It was a full night of cocktails, fine wine, fabulous Sushi selections, fresh fish that tasted like it just came from the ocean a few hours ago, meats that were tender and juicy, attentive service and best of all great company from the FF team. I think they enjoyed themselves as they devoured everything that was brought to us.

If you do take the short drive from the Bay Area to Half Moon Bay, definitely, include in your plans a trip to the Crab Landing – you will be happy you did!

FF Team!
