Sakoon

Hello Everyone,

I’m trying to get us on track for more delicious reviews in 2010 – our goal is at least 2 per-month in 2010. Hopefully, I have time in between to work off the great food we’re enjoying in the Bay Area!

This time around the FF team said we need to chow some Indian food, with that said we decided on Sakoon Indian Restaurant located at 357 Castro Street in Mountain View.

It was my first time at Sakoon; we were pleasantly greeted and were showed to our table right away. When you walk into Sakoon you will experience the chic modern look, in rich colors, very upscale and cozy.

Since it was a Friday night and you know how much we love Friday’s around here we started with some cocktails from there specialty list, I tried one of there “Naughty & Flirty” Martinis – probably one of the best I’ve ever had. . Score!

Before I took another sip I looked around at noticed Sakoon is quite large, with some large areas of seating to accommodate parties as well.

As usual we were starved so we got down to ordering some appetizers pretty quick. We started with the Scallops marinated in smoked paprika served with a bean salsa and mango. We couldn’t resist from also trying the Shrimp Recheido, very tasty served in zesty vinegar along with raw sugar served over a cucumber and radish.

For our main meals we wanted to taste everything we could so we ordered several entrée’s to share. Here’s a sample: For my meal, I went with the Sea bass Tikka, which is sautéed in madras marinade and coconut served with asparagus and rice pilaf. I also tasted a few others at the table like, Murgh Madurai, which is a good sized boneless chicken prepared with house spices and a creamy onion sauce that was simply out of this world.

Of course we had to have our share of Naan most of the team enjoyed the Rosemary Pesto Naan, while I was filling up on the Roasted Garlic Naan. At this point I am stuffed!

Skaoon offers a vast wine selection to satisfy any ones pallet. This evening I enjoyed the Pinot Noir from Australia, there were also a few other bottles being poured at our table. At this point we’ve been there for some time, I’m thinking we better leave so they can turn this table around, until the waiter (sorry forgot her name, blame the Marini) suggested a Triple Chocolate Crème Brulee. This baby had white and dark chocolate that I couldn’t believe was so good.

As most of you know, we don’t announce ourselves from Finally Friday as our reviews are done without the Restaurant knowing, however this night I came so close asking our server to let the chief proprietor Mr. Balkar Tamber know how much we really enjoyed our meal, but we stuck to the FF rule book and didn’t.

To sum it up, the food was exquisitely delicious right down to the Triple Chocolate Bruelee; our service was attentive and courteous.

The FF team will certainly be visiting Skaoon real soon; in fact some of the team will be there for lunch next week. Stop by soon to Skaoon, I promise you wont’ be disappointed located at 357 Castro St., Mountain View.

FF Team!
