Steelhead Brewing Company
Hello Everyone,The FF team is living up to its New Year’s Resolution and cranking out more reviews at some awesome restaurants in 2010. We just recently paid a visit (you should too) and had a great time at the Steelhead Brewing Company located at 333 California Dr in Burlingame.
Since we were in the area and our day was just about done we thought we should hustle over since it gets crowded. Lucky for us just a few minutes after getting seated it did get super busy.
Through the years I always found the Steelhead is a great place for lunch or dinner. Personally, I’ve attended business mixers to birthday parties along with a few other occasions at the Steelhead. It’s like one stop shopping; you have great food, an excellent beer selection, then for your entertainment you can hang out for a game of pool.
If you happen to be meeting someone for drinks; you will find a long bar area that seats quite a few patrons, with an additional area with tables and comfortable chairs. You can enjoy a great selection of appetizers like, steelhead wings, wood fried garlic bread (can you believe a half loaf for only $3.95) or some beer battered onion rings. I mentioned these as they were are starters for what was to be a very filling evening.
This evening we had six members of the FF team, it’s a double-edge sword for me, I get stuck with the bill, but I do get to shovel my fork into five other entrees. This night was no exception of my sampling - some of the great food selections were; Woodfried Stuffed Pork which I’ve never had before, it consisted of a woodfired pork loin stuffed with apples, mushrooms, mozzarella and provolone cheese, topped with a brandy sauce, absolutely out of this world. Another selection on the table was Cajun Penne pasta served with chicken, shrimp, sausage, onion and peppers in a spicy Cajun cream sauce. For me the decision was difficult since the Steelhead offers something on the menu for everyone, I decided on the Chicken Cordon Bleu. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen this on any menu and honestly it’s been years since I’ve had it. It was very soft and tender, and took very little chewing to enjoy each piece.
Now along with three starters and six entrée’s to taste, of course we couldn’t pass up on some good brew now could we? I went with one of there flag ship ales (and one of my favorites) the Barracuda Blonde. It’s a light American style cream ale that blends with any meal you may be having – the taste is as light as its color. I know what you’re thinking. . no I didn’t try the other five brews on the table.
After dinner, we strolled into the back room were you’ll find it filled with pool tables, comfortable couches and several big screens for your viewing pleasure.
If dining outside is more appealing to you, no problem you will find a large outdoor patio with heated lamps. Personally, this is where I like to chill with an after dinner cocktail and people watch. It’s one of my favorite things to do.
By the end of the evening (uh was it midnight) we all agreed the Steelhead deserves a return visit soon by the FF team. We want to come up for lunch and try some of their pizza selections.
Our evening was filling and fun, our server was awesome, she was very attentive to our group. So folks, if you’re in the mood for a little pool, some great food along with a great beer selection, stop by the Steelhead Brewing Company on California Street in Burlingame.
FF Team!
