Tacone Flavor Grill
Hello Everyone,For our next dining review we found ourselves in trendy Redwood City. I was in the mood for a Gourmet Wrap before we hit the movie theater on our night on the town. Since we were in Redwood City, I heard there’s not a better place to get a delicious wrap other than Tacone Flavor Grill located at 855 Middlefield Road in Redwood City.
Our first impression of Tacone, is it’s not your usual chain, this place is trendy, from the décor to there impressive menu featuring a mixture of wraps, salads, grilled sandwiches and yes smoothies as well. You will have your choice of dining inside or perhaps eating outside so you can people watch if you like.
As we approached the counter I was eyeing some nice plates everyone was enjoying, from burgers to huge salads. However as I mentioned earlier, I was in the mood for a nice wrap – with that said, I went with the “Thai Cone Wrap” which included some very tasty Grilled Chicken, Jasmine Rice, Peanut Sauce along with Cucumbers served with seasoned Potato Chips. The other FF team member went with the huge Cobb salad she noticed someone feasting on when we walked in.
One item I haven’t seen on a menu in quite some time (actually I’ve only seen in some restaurants back East) were the Sweet Potato Fries, oh I was looking forward to this meal. Off to the side you will find a fabulous sauce bar along with all of your favorite condiments and salad dressings.
Our order was up in no time, which was good since we were headed next door to catch a Saturday night flick. I couldn’t believe the size of my wrap, huge is too small of a word; however I was up for the task of completing my food assignment since it was so good. Usually when I bite into a wrap it falls apart on me, not tonight, this guy hung in there until the last bite. About half way through I needed to put it down to try some of those sweet potato fries. Yes, they were just the way I remembered, crunchy and fried perfectly. Honestly, the portion of the fries was so huge; I already had plans on taking them home for lunch the next day. I’m usually not crazy about sauces on my fries however they were served with a sauce I thought had a mango taste that seem to bring out even more flavor in the fries. After asking, the manager, it was a sauce made up of Apples and Apricots – well; now I have one more entry for my cook book!
I know I’m getting carried away on my meal, a word about the Cobb salad. Again, if I had to sum it up the word is HUGE. This guy was definitely going to make the trip home as well. The T.J. Cobb salad featured that Tacone signature Grilled Chicken, Turkey Bacon (yes I said Turkey Bacon, a nice change, healthy and tasty) and Avocado along with Tomatoes, Eggs and Romaine lettuce. What a meal and all priced very reasonably.
Everyone, whether your out shopping or planning to catch a blockbuster movie with the family at Century Theater, be sure to stop by Tacone Flavor Grill, you will be treated to fast excellent service and food portions that will not leave you hungry. You will find Tacone open until 9:00 PM during the week and until 11:00 PM on the weekend. Tacone can also cater your next party with their gourmet party platters.
PS: I forgot to mention I was jealous about the kids menu – a grilled cheese sandwich rates high on my all time favorite food list.
