The bad boys of Boston rocked into the Oracle Arena on July 23 to show a capacity crowd that even 60 something’s still have what it takes. After a successful combined Europe and South America tour, Aerosmith was ready to begin its “Cocked, Locked, Ready To Rock” North American tour starting in Oakland’s Oracle Arena.

For quite sometime we had to wonder if we’d ever see the bad boy’s perform together on stage again. Steven Tyler has been going through some rough times with his addiction to painkillers, the unfortunate loss of his mother a few years ago, along with news tidbits about friction in the band; such as Aerosmith replacing Steven Tyler as front man while Tyler indulged in his solo career.

All that said, when the curtain went up, all was forgotten as the hard rock gods of the 70’s and 80’s unleashed a pounding performance. All the fans seemed to be forgiving of the missed performance last year due to Tyler’s fall from the stage in Sough Dakota. The Grammy award winning band entertained the crowd to favorites like “Love in an Elevator” “Falling in Love” “Eat the Rich” “Pink” “Living on the Edge” along with the classic “Janie’s Got a Gun” all found Tyler and Perry at their best.

Tyler as usual was energetic twirling his mic-stand like a baton and in Joe Perry’s face exchanging smiles and the mic during the performance. However, you can tell the 62 year old Tyler was a bit more cautious than years past. Even though you could find Tyler on his belly singing “Baby Please Don’t Go” most of the time you noticed he wasn’t running around – it was a power walk. Nevertheless, the band’s presence was long over due for Bay Area rockers.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will continue on in their U.S. tour which will include a performance in hometown Boston, Mass on August 14 with J.Geils doing the opening honors.

Regardless of the drama – it’s safe to say the bad boys of Boston have their Mojo working for them!
