Originally, it was operated by Harvey Gross, a Sacramento meat wholesaler. The first tower and 12 story hotel was opened in 1961. In 1980, the hotel was severely damaged, due to a bomb placed by a landscaper, on behalf of a Fresno landscaper that had lost over one million dollars, in the casino. After that tragedy and the death of Harvey Gross, the company changed management hands, and it has been controlled by Harrah’s Entertainment since 2001.
