Hola Mexican Restaurant
Well, it never seems to fail, when I ask for volunteers from the FF team to join me on a restaurant idea, everyone raises their hand. I can’t blame them; they get great food courtesy of my Visa card.Well, on Saturday, April 18, we decided to storm into the classy town of Belmont – everyone voted hands down for Mexican food so we chose Hola Mexican Restaurant in the Carlmont Shopping Center in Belmont.
We stopped in around 7 ish, found the restaurant filling up. I was surprised at how big this restaurant was. They have a huge area in the back so it’s very accommodating for large groups or for those special occasions. We were given an awesome table that overlooked the nursery next door - we were treated to lots of greenery and a cool pond with a foot bridge.
We were getting settled into our seats when chips, salsa and water were on the table. . Talk about fast! I mean you couldn’t sit down and say Friday Rocks before it came!
I’ve got to tell you folks, the chips and salsa were excellent! Soon our focus was on a gentleman named Herman – our waiter. Herman knew one thing-that the FF team was thirsty. Herman recommended that we have one of their huge Hola Grande Patron Margaritas “on the rocks”. We went for the frozen version with plenty of salt. It was delicious!
Since we knew the Margaritas were “huge” and could do damage. . we needed to make some food decisions while we could still think. We were very impressed with the menu selection. Most of the team started with tortilla soup. Entrees included delectables like Enchilada’s, Tamales, and Quesadilla with peppers and onions. One team member really liked the Arroz Con Pollo, tender chicken breast chunks with mushrooms in an awesome sauce. I ventured out and had the Al Chipotle, which had tons of shrimp over cilantro rice. I must say that this was a great alternative from the normal Mexican rice. (I wish I knew how to make that sauce - it was awesome!) If you visit Hola - go hungry since the portions are as big as my mouthwatering Margarita.
We made some room for Mexican Coffee, fried Bananas and cinnamon crispies. We “rolled out” of there since we were pleasantly stuffed!
I can’t compliment the service enough! Especially Herman (always friendly and happy) even as busy as he was, he stopped by numerous times throughout our meal to see if we were all in one piece.
Overall, I highly rate Hola’s as a “must” when you’re in the Belmont area. There’s plenty of parking, a lively atmosphere, great menu selections, fabulous service, great tasting food and generous portions.
Great job Hola!
